As nonsensical as the whole nation of El Caldero and this "event" have been, Dan Slott knows the heart and voice of characters (especially Spider-Man and Superman). This issue exemplifies what we love about Superman while also giving other characters a chance to shine like Jon. Slott seems to be the first person to figure out what to do with Jon and give him some direction since he's been aged up. Not only did I have tons of fun reading this issue but I was genuinely swept up in my appreciation for Superman and the hope he inspires.
