Unlike most other 'New 52' books, SWAMP THING really has a unique feel in anything goes. Scott Snyder has big plans for the characters and you really get a sense that nothing is holding him back. It's a great feeling knowing that we don't have to worry about other interactions interrupting the flow of the story here. With Snyder's BATMAN, he could be limited with what happens to the characters in the other Bat-books but here, there is so much more freedom. The art fits perfectly with a great amount of detail without overdoing it. There will be some slightly graphic scenes that truly captures just how disturbing this little corner of the DC Universe can be. Each time I read an issue I'm left wanting more, but in a good way. If Swamp Thing #3 might has lost a step from the first two issues, its only a step. This is still superior comics storytelling, steadily setting the stage for an epic drama. Once again, Swamp Thing and Animal Man are the best comics of their week, and stand proudly as the crown jewels of DCs New 52. Read Full Review
This is the moment "Swamp Thing" lives up to the hype. This is the stepping stone from which something grand will be told. This is a comic that stands alone quite well as one piece of a very large puzzle. Snyder is finally building something here and the art, even from dual hands, keeps up with every twist and turn. Longtime fans can still enjoy this book for it's great story and artwork, but the changes with the characters may be disappointing to longtime fans. This is definitely a Swamp Thing geared more towards the new generation, which is still getting a great book " just not as great as the original. But when has the new version ever outdone the original? Scott Snyder is still doing an excellent job and this issue of Swamp Thing is a must have for new readers trying to get into the Green and horror fans and can still pique the interest of longtime fans willing to overlook the new Abigail.
