  New Titans 38 finds Static coming onboard a team that’s not quite gelled as a team and maybe even friends. The roster is well conceived with the legacy aspects of the original team and provides a spot for some underutilized characters who greatly benefit from being in a team series.   New Titans #38 is a big transition chapter as Static gets recruited to the team and an Amazon focused story arc centered around Yara Flor is set-up. Having this type of issue does allow Tate Brombal to further explore the spot where each of the members of the New Titans are at. Read Full Review

  New Titans #38 is paced very well for an issue that is almost all conversations, but unfortunately none of the characters come across as terribly likable here. The fact that Static's first storyline appears to be "I'm having issues with my powers but don't want to tell anyone" is incredibly frustrating and actually detracts some from my enjoyment of the book. The book has a good cast of characters overall; I'm just hoping that their actual characterization improves and they become at least somewhat likeable, or my time with this book is going to be a short one.
