Can the Titans become a team again and defeat the darkness that surrounds them, or has the grotesque Mr. Twister got them too tightly in his grasp? The Hunt is about to end, and Twister is going for the kill.
This is the eighth installment of Titans Hunt, but it sure feels like a brand new adventure that is wide open and welcoming to readers. I, for one, am glad to have some Titans I recognize and love back in action, and this is the first time I have enjoyed a Titans story since the New 52 started. I can only hope it won't be the last. Dan Abnett is a man with a mission. In a recent interview he recalled how last year Eddie Berganza, the head of DC Entertainment's Superman Office, which at that time was in charge of the Teen Titans, approached him about writing a comic featuring the Silver Age Titans. The franchise was in ruins and Abnett was a logical choice for a writer to begin rebuilding. His experience onGuardians of the Galaxy proved that he could handle large casts and complicated storylines, while his reputation showed that DC was serious about addressing the problems of a superhero team that had been devastated by the New 52 reboot. I liked this issue, it was action packed and tied together a number of loose ends except the mystery of who is the tenth Titan. It was an interesting plot choice to have the Titans break Twister's hold on them by remembering who they are and not who they were. Ironically it was their remembering that led to their victory. Even Hank finally remembered Don, the original Dove and that allowed his rage to take over so much so that Twister was not able to control him and the Titans were able to get their shots in. Titans Hunt may not clear up all the lingering questions that the readers have had throughout this series, but what it does is give you an entertaining issue with all our Titans characters coming together and taking on the bad guy one final time. It's the Stephen King's IT of the DCU and while it may not live up to the concept completely, the art looked great and it left us on an exciting note that teases us for what's going to happen in Rebirth. Did you get closure? The Titans were able to defeat Mr. Twister, but this isn't completely over. Lilith in the final scenes discusses with the team that they need to take "measures to protect themselves." Which, I can see why. If he came back for a second time, what makes you think that he won't come back for a third? There isn't much to talk about now that Mr. Twister is gone and we were able to find out what his plan was, but I don't think we're done with him just yet. The Titans better be prepared for the next time that he comes around. Read Full Review
WAAALLYYYY!!
I liked this whole series, which I bought digitally after reading Rebirth #1. What I think works so well is that it all just feels so danged DC. I don't know how else to put it into words, but there's something great and refreshing here and I hope that quality continues as the series continues into Rebirth. My only disappointment is that I wish Titans was one of the twice monthly books!
Great ending to a good story! I loved the comraderie at the end from the reunited Titans! I'm so looking forward to TITANS every month!
