Since her return from the Sphere of the Gods, Diana has tried her best to reconnect with her past and those she left behind. But now the past is coming for her! It all begins when a mysterious man appears, claiming to know the dark history of the Amazons. Could his claims possibly be true? And what does this mean for our hero’s relationship with those who still rule Themyscira? Judgment is coming for all the Amazons, and you won’t want to miss this prologue story leading directly to the next chapter of the Wonder Woman epic!
In a remarkably concise three-act story, Conrad and Cloonan have done an outstanding job of getting Wonder Woman back into classic superhero mode just in time for her next big crossover between this annual and the first issue of Nubia and the Amazons. Read Full Review
MacDonald delivers some thrilling visuals throughout the issue. Every page is filled with great imagery and beautiful detail. Read Full Review
The few battle sequences there are in the issue are nicely tense, but this issue is sort of a refreshing change of pace from the plot-heavy, packed issues of the afterlife run. This run continues to surprise. Read Full Review
This is a must-read for Wonder Woman fans who are preparing themselves for theTrial of the Amazons. As if Medusa wasn't bad enough, a new threat looms under Themyscira, and the Amazons should be very, very afraid. Read Full Review
Wonder Woman 2021 Annual is a really interesting comic. As we move away from Diana's time in the afterlife and set up for "Trial of the Amazons," Conrad and Cloonan do a fantastic job of positioning the heroine as being both utterly herself, but also changed by her experience. Read Full Review
Wonder Woman Annual 2021 is a solid comic that does a nice job of giving us a cinematic approach to the Amazing Amazon which also acknowledges Gal Gadot's performance as Diana on the silver screen. It's a little early to judge "The Trial of the Amazon," but this is definitely an interesting lead-in. Read Full Review
I actually liked this a bit more than the run's current offerings, I hope that bodes well for the upcoming Amazons event.
This runs actually starting to pick up a bit, this issue was definitely one of the better ones
This was mainly a prologue for the "Trial of the Amazons" event so not much to go off until we actually know more of what that event is about. My only real critique is Diana felt far more aggressive here than she normally is (even under Cloonan/Conrad's run) but remains to be seen if that's due to the villain of the story here.
The stage is set for Trial of the Amazons. While I am looking forward to the event, I let out a sigh at yet another secret organization (or in this case group of people) coming out of nowhere to set up an event. Still, the Enki people seem like interesting antagonists.
I enjoyed Andy McDonald's work while Diana was on Olympus but this time his art was a little too rough even for me. Or rather too inconsistent. Some panels look beautiful, othertimes characters are immensely out of shape.
Despite that it's an interesting set-up and it's nice to see Etta and Diana spending more time together, or rather trying to.
