Desaad goes in for the kill as Power Girl and Huntress run out of options against a monster from Apokolips!
Ice cream incident aside, this has been one of the better issues to date. The action and story was tighter than it has been. This has been one of the first issues of the series, that I am excited about the next issue. Are the Worlds' Finest taking a trip to Apokolips? This could be a game changer for this series! This also (finally) also offers us a reason why Desaad has targeted the pair and what he's truly after – a return to Apokolips. Rocha's art is allowing the a comic to find a more consistent look, and, as I've stated, I really enjoy when Paul Levitz keeps the focus on the Karen/Helena relationship and tones down a bit of the Apokolips craziness (which actually works fine here). I desperately want to like this book for all the reasons I have said above. But I feel that the book is languishing a bit. I wouldn't mind there being some resolution to this whole 'searching for a way home' aspect to the book. Maybe it can always be percolating in the background but I feel that if the heroes just said 'we should accept being here' and moved on, we could get more adventures and more progression on the book. Could Levitz be taking baby steps because he doesn't know where to bring the book once that aspect is finished? Anyways, maybe I am being too harsh here. There was nothing wrong with this book.
