ORIGIN OF EVIL PART 1! Ernest Fairchild was a kind and gentle soul...until one day something in him snapped, leading him to one of the most notorious killing sprees in American history. With 665 kills to his name, "Evil Ernie" requires ONE more murder to complete the ritual he started and seal his deal with the Devil. Problem is: he's just been EXECUTED! What led an ordinary boy to become a leather-clad angel of death? How does he wield such blasphemous power? And what is the secret behind his hideous smiley-face button? Whether you're completely familiar with Evil Ernie or this is your first time, this is the place to find out who he is now. This isn't just a simple retelling of his origin as we're seeing some new elements and twists added to the character. You'll immediately get the feeling that there is more to Evil Ernie than there appears. The bits of mystery as to why he becomes the character we're familiar with will pull you into the story and get you hooked. Evil Ernie is now on my radar and I am very curious to see where this is going to go. Read Full Review

    Newsarama - Deniz Cordell Oct 10, 2012

For horror aficionados, Snider, Craig, and their crack team, have crafted a horror story that offers subtle shadings of characterization, an inexorable pace that makes it all compelling, and some gentle moments of humanity (which remain my favorite elements of the book - Ernie's conversation with the prison guard "Mac," is an unexpected moment of reality and warmth) amidst the shocks, gore, and occasional bit of gallows humor - and they'd be very well-served to give the book a look-see. This is a great title to come out around Halloween. Ernie Fairchild is a regular Michael Myers with moments harkening back to the Rob Zombie Halloween remake, but with a supernatural twist. If you've never read Evil Ernie, this is a great issue to start reading. For old fans of the character, I think they'll enjoy it and hopefully won't be too put off by the changed origin story. I look forward to seeing the carnage Ernie is going to cause next issue, as well as the addition of an unlikely sidekick also from the older Evil Ernie. And even if the rest of the series flops, this is still a suitable origin story that may have you going back to the 90s' comics like me. Read Full Review

The character itself, not sure if he's my form of entertainment, but the comic was absolutely interesting. Enough so that I want to check out the second issue and see where Snider takes it. Read Full Review

Unleash The Fanboy - Marcell Oct 10, 2012

Overall, a pretty good number one issue. Establishing the main character well, with enough mystery and intrigue surrounding him to keep you coming back for more, and having enough appealing yet horrifying imagery to keep you entertained. If your new to "Evil Ernie", like me, you'll enjoy this, if you been with it since the beginning, this a reboot worth checking out. Recommended. Read Full Review

Evil Ernie #1 is a solid first effort that has the creative team heading in the right direction. There is a lot to be excited about here if you are a fan of the character or the old Chaos Comics universe in general. If Dynamite can keep Jesse Snider and Jason Craig as the main steady creative team then it looks like “Evil Ernie” is in good hands. Read Full Review

The creative team in general seems to have it down for Evil Ernie. I'm on the fence with this book right now, I don't love it I don't hate it, I'd just like to see it go somewhere. Read Full Review
