Simone's script has a ton going on but gives the characters strong speeches and a plot that's got a touch of Shakespeare in it. Read Full Review

    Shadowhawk's Shade - Abhinav Jain Dec 22, 2013

So yes, Gail, Walter and Adriano are on top form here as usual and they close out the first arc rather spectacularly, with a double death, the latter involving a cursory beheading no less. Read Full Review

Geeked Out Nation - Mark Pritchard Dec 19, 2013

The character of Red Sonja herself is Gail Simone in comic book form. Strong, clever, funny and defiantly in charge of her own destiny. And those covers by Jenny Frison, beautiful, absolutely beautiful. 2013 has been a great year for Gail Simone's Red Sonja, and here's hoping that 2014 will be just as much fun. As long as Simone is on the title though, I know this is a cast Iron guarantee. Raise your glasses to Red Sonja, all hail Red Sonja. Read Full Review

While the conclusion to Annisia's story is arguably the issue's weakest point, the overarching theme of the narrative remains as clear as ever: the women of this world are not to be trifled with, no matter how weak they may seem. Weekly Comic Book Review - Hugo Robberts Lariviere Dec 22, 2013

With a good deal of action, some potent characterization, a great presentation of the themes and tones of the title, some strong art and colorization, this issue proves that this title does possess the capacity to pleasantly surprise. There may be one or two minor weaknesses here and there, but this is a solid effort from Simone, Geovani and Lucas nonetheless. Read Full Review

The comic also apparently says farewell to Sonja's loyal bodyguards Nias and Ayla who won't be accompanying the She-Devil on her journey onward (although they do get to kick some ass in their final appearance). I think the comic may be hurt without their humor and interactions with our heroine. Hit-and-Miss. Read Full Review
