RED SONJA (VOL. 6) #1 takes the classic Badass and Child Duo trope in an entertaining direction. The writing is equal parts exciting and heartfelt, and the art puts energy and movement into every panel for a dynamic first issue. Read Full Review
As with Vampi, there is now a range of Sonja books to choose from, depending on your personal taste. All of them, very much like this new ongoing series, feature A list creators; it is surely one of the best times to be a fan of the She-Devil with a sword! Read Full Review
Handling the art is Giuseppe Cafaro, whose style and character designs are similar to Andolfos own without ever seeming like an imitation. The outbursts of violence are bloody and graphic but handled masterfully and made all the better with excellent coloring by Chiara Di Francia. Every decapitation and dismemberment is a thing of beauty. Cafaros depiction of Red Sonja is just as fantastic; he keeps the traditional look of the buxom red-head in a chainmail bikini but avoids any gratuitous imagery or cheesecake poses. His Sonja is beautiful, as always, but meant to be feared, not ogled. Its a refreshing change of pace that once again never disrespects the traditional aspects of the character. Read Full Review

Andolfo is a talented writer and storyteller and Cafaro has some really beautiful and expressive pages here. The story is familiar to be sure but I like the execution of it and I'm curious to see what truths we'll learn about Sinthia in the near future as she's clearly not what she seems. The real fun is always in watching as Sonja deals with any situation she finds herself in and this one is definitely going to present her with a fun challenge for readers like me to enjoy. Although I'm not in love with the art of Giuseppe Cafaro, particularly the action sequences, Red Sonja #1 offers a solid opening to a new story and an unlikely role for Sonja (although given her wounds at the end of the issue, Sitha may be doing the protecting in the short term). Read Full Review
Really strong start to the new series. Good art, good writing and dialogue, good plot. No glaring weaknesses at all IMO.
Great start to the new series that as someone totally new to the world of Red Sonja, has pulled me in with some great art and characterisation. Big fan of Andolfo and definitely sticking around for more.
