Overall, Red Sonja fans will be pleased by this mini-series and newcomers to the legend of the She-Devil with a Sword will find this to be a spirited introduction to the queen of sword-and-sorcery. The only ones who will want to give this a miss are those who don't like low fantasy and high adventure or Howardian purists who will not stand for the good name of Bel being besmirched by a lawyer. The first issue introduces us to Sonja's quest (with further flashbacks of her friendship with Shashana), her drunken wandering which leaves destruction in its wake, and her temporary capture by a Sultan whom she hopes to pry information out of. The last of these seems a bit more elaborate than necessary (and more calculated than the stab-first method Sonja uses elsewhere in the comic), but it does provide some early action to help frame the tale. Worth a look. Read Full Review

Comic Crusaders - Johnny "The Machine" Hughes Jun 12, 2019

The hook of this book is to show Sonja at an earlier stage in her life. The child elements are strong enough in setting into motion Sonja future path; her present, around 19 years old, doesn't seem too different from what we expect. This isn't meant to detract from what is, overall, an enjoyable romp that won't disappoint long-term Sonja fans. Read Full Review

Fantastic start to the series. As great as Russell’s run on the main title is, this is more of a traditional Sonja tale with dark magic, high adventure and swashbuckling, and bar room brawls but it features a very young and rash She-Devil. This will please anyone for whom
russell’s take was too much of a departure from regular Sonja stories. Welcome back, Luke Lieberman
