After landing in jail following a night of drunken revelry, Red Sonja hears an outlandish story from a fellow inmate. Deep in the mountains lies a dead city in a valley with no name. Abandoned and forgotten, its fields and streets are littered with the bones of two armies, all destroyed by a curse from a warlock who has long since vanished, along with his vast treasure - untold riches just waiting to be taken.

At least that is the legend. But Sonja's cellmate Morgo has more than a diverting tale - he's also got a map that says this legend could well be reality. All they need to do is break out of lockup and hit the road - which more

A warlord that caused a curse, could it be Kulan Gath? Niles will need to work hard to move away from the expectations set by previous series. Following this well paced first issue, with it's initial set-ups, I have every faith that we are in for an intriguing and surprising quest. May be we will be damned if we do and damned if we don't! Fans of Niles' work and Red Sonja will probably want to pick this up once it is collected into a trade. This isn't a bad comic by any means, but it should have been more given the talent involved. Hopefully it will prove to be more than the sum of its parts. Read Full Review

Red Sonja is in a bar in Nemedia that is about to be closed by the army and she just wants to rest and does not accept that order, so a big fight breaks out and she is helped by a mysterious character who had already had his eye on Sonja. .

They are both sent to a Blackworm prison where he offers Red Sonja that if she helps him escape he will take her to an abandoned town in the center of Hyrkania where there are treasures kept by a sorcerer who apparently died years ago.

Good start, quick to finish is the only problem so far.

This was a disappointment for me. The story starts out well enough but takes a drastic downturn. It moves into a silly, pointless barfight where Sonja just comes off rude nd arrogant. I don't believe she is either unwarranted. She just happens to run into a guy who has the map and he is killed instead of introducingus to a new interpersonal relationship. There's nothing personal to Sonja at all. The art is pretty poor on top of everything. I'll stick with the main title.
