Marvel and IDW are perfect companions in the new Marvel Action titles that are coming out. The basic fun of this issue is the guessing game the Avengers are having with Ironman. Is Tony inside the armor or is it an imposter? They never find out for Ironman takes off before they can discover the truth. They're unable to track him down. We don't know for sure until the last page what's going on and it's a shocker! Read Full Review

I am digging this all-ages Marvel Action line from IDW Publishing. They have a Spider-Man book already out and a Black Panther series coming out soon. These are fantastic all-ages series that I wish we had more of. These characters are extremely popular right now and it is great to have something you can give to younger readers. What makes these so great is that they work well for adult readers like me, too. I love all of these characters and Marvel Action: Avengers #1 was a delightful read and has me excited to see what this creative team has in store! Read Full Review

It's a solid entry to the world and characters succeeding where Marvel has stumbled, material made for non-adults. There's also a nice sophistication to it that doesn't talk down to its audience and should keep everyone who reads it engaged. A great start to a new take on classic characters. Read Full Review

I picked up Marvel Action: Avengers #1 the day after Christmas in one of my lightest pull weeks of 2018. The other book I purchased was Go-Bots #2 by Tom Sciolli. I'll probably be reviewing that one in the next few days. At the outset of the review, I will say that this comic is the most mainstream version of the Avengers that I've read in decades.
IDW has done something Marvel has not been able to do since the inception of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It has successfully translated the Avengers from that shared universe to the comics.
All of the characters in the comics would feel right in on-screen including the additions of Captain Marvel and Black Panther.
