Fans of M.A.S.K. rejoice. The Team is off to a great start with their introduction to the IDW universe. With the option of dealing with characters from other IDW properties (G.I. Joe, Action Man) on top of reintroducing characters from their own franchise, this series has a long and entertaining road ahead of it. Read Full Review

I was very surprised with the overall direction this book has taken. I went into it knowing it was a reboot of an old property and had different expectations, mainly that it would be corny and cheesy and not at all serious, but I was mistaken. This book seems to have a very serious tone, and I'm very interested in what will happen next. Supposedly all these “Revolution” titles (Rom, GI Joe, Transformersand more) will become tied into some event, which could be fun too. Read Full Review
With this in mind, its difficult to recommend this to new readers without the caveat that you should probably grab the rest of the crossover series, and given quite how much there is out there at this stage, that seems like something of a poisoned apple. M.A.S.K. Revolution #1 is a decent start to introducing M.A.S.K. to the new generation but falls a bit short of its potential. The "gimmick" of the property is barely seen and the issue is one long character introduction. While it's not bad, the "military soldiers trying to make the cut" trope has been done before. There is promise though, with lead hero Matt Trakker now African-American and the updated suit designs by artist Tony Varas looking sleek and cool. I'm dying to see M.A.S.K. make its return and interact with all the Hasbro properties, making the eight year old Wilson jump for joy. Read Full Review
