Star Trek Discovery: The Light of Kahless #1 is a great issue that takes us back in time to set up for the story of a character from the television series. It does not rely on the events of that series however, and really adds depth and dimension to the character and to the the lore of the show. Read Full Review
If you're a Star Trek: Discovery “denier”, then you'll probably have a lot of things to criticize in this issue. If you're a Star Trek: Discovery fan, the story alone is worth reading. The story taking place outside of the regular continuity of the show may be hard for readers to grasp, but it hardly seems to matter if you can let go of prior prejudices and just enjoy the book. This is simply good reading, a good Trek-style story and the beginning of something I plan to stick with for a while. Maybe in time, I will grow to like or at least tolerate the look of these Klingons. Read Full Review
Issue #1 of Star Trek: Discovery is quite excellent. Both Kirsten Beyer and Mike Johnson have realised that the Star Trek Universe is no longer about the bridge of a Federation vessel, and with this knowledge they've brought something fantastic to the table. Read Full Review

The comic adds to what the television series can't cover which adds to the story overall. It provides background which has the show make a bit more sense in some ways. It's a good example of using other mediums to add to a story while not making it vital to a point you are chained to it. Read Full Review
