Star Wars Adventures: The Weapon of a Jedi #1is a great adaptation of a junior novel many fans may never have read, especially thanks to its brilliant colors. Read Full Review
Overall, Star Wars Adventures: Weapons of A Jedi #1 is a fun side adventure of a Luke Skywalker still unsure who he is meant to be. The story by Fry and Worley is exciting. The art by the creative team is gorgeous. Altogether, an excellent debut issue that should excite fans of Star Wars everywhere. Read Full Review
The artwork by Ruairi Coleman is a nice compliment to the story. Yes, the artwork is a bit cartoony, but that is to be expected in a series that is trying to reach younger readers. The one aspect of this series that does confuse me a bit is the name. It is entitled Star Wars Adventures: The Weapon of a Jedi. Yet there is very little in this issue about Jedi weapons other than the lightsaber. Is the weapon referred to in the title The Force? Maybe, but if so, isnt The Force a weapon used by Sith Lords as well as the Jedi? Maybe issue two will bring more clarity to this. Read Full Review
While there are twists, turns, and excitement to behold, this issue offers not only a great opportunity for young audiences to get involved in the galaxy far, far away, but also catch older readers up with events that unfolded after Star Wars: A New Hope in a way that's more compelling than merely reading wiki pages about the character. With so many different Star Wars comics being published, Star Wars Adventures: The Weapon of A Jedi #1 isn't a must-read. It's also not quite as lighthearted as most of the Star Wars Adventures line. However, it does work as a solid opening to tease what is to come. Read Full Review
Despite strong fundamentals from the creative team, it shows roots as a novel by failing to adequately adapt to the form. Read Full Review
I do wish we would let the original films and characters rest in peace, if we keep trying to mine the timeline between movies or events we'll end up with Star Wars: Toilet Breaks or Star Wars: Shhh They're all asleep. There's nothing here that would draw a new fan to the series and as a die-hard fan, I hated it. One Star for writing and one star for artwork. Let the Skywalkers rest and use the universe on new characters, please. Read Full Review
Fun issue. The portrayal of 3PO was spot on, I loved it. Curious to see what luke encounters at the temple.
A LOT of setup and not much action. That said, the writing isn't too tedious, and the pieces are in place for part 2 to potentially be awesome, as it continues the exploration of previous generations of Jedi and lore.
