The Turtles are trapped and surrounded by the government. With them? One of their least favorite people in the world, Baxter Stockman! Will the unlikely allies find a way to work together and live to fight another day?
If you're a TMNT fan this is a must for your pull list. There is a familiar feel you can sense Kevin Eastman's imprint still on these stories but also with the start of a fresh arc and universe you can jump in here as a newbie and not feel like you've missed a huge amount (even though you will end up with a ton of back reading because it's so addictive). The art and writing quality go hand in hand. The color artist has matched these quality levels to form a really high quality book. This is one you don't want to miss. Read Full Review
If you where worried that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Universe would fall short of the main ongoing series than this issue should put that to rest. This is a fantastic issue that has great character moments, a strong story and will have readers clamoring for more. IDW's continues to put stellar talent on their TMNT books and this is a series any fan should not miss! Read Full Review
Much like my review for issue one the main event for me is the backup story from the team of co creator Kevin Eastman and the legendary Bill Sienkiewicz. It's a simple Mirage style backup but the art is just as beautifully grimy as I'd hoped. Eastman did the layouts for Sienkiewicz who took them and made them his own. Two of my favourite artists coming together even for a short backup story is something I'll never tire of. Good stuff all round. Read Full Review

Anyways, all I'm saying is that $4.99 is a bit pricey for some. Luckily for me, I read this for nothin'! And when I pick it up from my comic shop on Wednesday, I'm only paying cost for it. So regardless of whether it's a good story or not, that might not matter to some people. It might just be too pricey for what it is. Vote with your wallet, eh? Read Full Review
Like its companion series, TMNT Universe is set up to take our heroes to some pretty dark places. Read Full Review
Like I said before, I'm still not sure how this title is an exploration of the TMNT mythos beyond what the regular book attempts, but at least it's telling a good story so far. Read Full Review
The turtles are boxed in and they'll have to form an unholy alliance with Stockman to get out of this. Watch your backs! There some especially good Raph moments in here too. As for the backup story, I don't really get it, is it a dream? It doesn't make sense.
fast paced action packed story full of twists and turns!!! . . . . . . . i'm really LOVING this new series!!!! . . . . . . . . in what seemed like the Turtles darkest hour i DID NOT see the twist coming!!! . . . . . . Bishop is turning into a formidable threat to mutant-kind, can't wait to see where this all goes!! . . . . . and our new Scorpion Mutant is quite the character! (double entendre intended) . . . . . for a sharp tongued murderess, she's actually very charming! . . . . . . . i'm really glad we have a back-up story focusing on Leonardo. . . . . . . . his presence feels almost absent from the main story. at least this gives him some much needed spot-light. . . . . . . i very much welcome hearing Leonardo giving internal monologue,more
