At first glance, Tim Seeley and Fero Pe's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Godzilla was, damn this is going to fun, and it absolutely is, but the first issue reveals there is much more beneath the surface. The story offers depth, some surprises, a clear sense of purpose, as well as lays a fantastic foundation for what is the comic book crossover of the year. Read Full Review
TMNT x Godzilla #1 is an amazing crossover event that we didn't know we needed but will gleefully enjoy for its entire run. The awesome backstory, mixed with some great action, and fantastic reveals makes this first issue a must read for all comic book fans. I love how Pe depicts the vast size and scale of the King of the Monsters compared to your usual human/turtle ninja and beneath the jokes and butt kicking, there's a relevant theme of using tragedies to profit. Read Full Review
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Godzilla #1 delivers exactly what fans of both franchises want from a fun comic book. Even with all the crossovers both have been involved in recently Tim Seeley and Fero Pe find a way to make this unique. The way different versions of Godzilla and TMNT elements make for a unique look and feel to how the mythology of this universe is presented. Seeley quickly establishes a premise for this collision that reaches back into the Turtles franchise lore in a way that feels like it fits into an open pocket of time rather than trying to reconstruct history. This is a comic that is filled to the brim with all the over-the-top, cartoony antics you'd expect from a TMNT story, whilst perfectly setting up the scale and threat that comes with Godzilla.
