Matt Fraction giving us a ghost Adventureman story this close to Christmas is genius. The artwork continues to work really well with Fractions narrative and the colours and visuals continue to look very much like an old 30s pulp series, but set in the modern-day. Additionally, this issue is a wonderful introduction for the cowboy hero Champion Strong, who I am hoping we'll see more of in the months ahead. Read Full Review

Adventureman #7 is a book excited by its influences and canon. It takes the medium of pulp stories and builds something that fulfills the fun of the style but works on a deeper level than most other types of pulp. Paired with Dodson's stylized art and colors, which on the surface feel like classic pin-ups but burrows into a deep well of sequential storytelling. The writing and artwork on a level beyond mindless pulp, and examines how stories and genre work together, and the power of history influences the way a tale is told. The book also makes the case for more weird west stories, and hopefully, there might be a place in the comics market for a Crossdraw Kid series. Read Full Review
I believe that the Dodsons art work always adds more to the stories that they are working on, and the gestalt that they have formed with Matt Fraction is amazing. One final high point that I feel needs to be pointed out; Terry Dodsons guide on how he created the cover is an awesome frame work. I especially liked how he has gravitated towards using colored pencils to differentiate between stages of the drawings. Seeing how Dodson pulls everything together is like standing in Emerald City and getting a peak behind the curtain! Except there is no let down! Read Full Review

I may be a tad harsh; as stated, joining a book already in progress can be difficult and not every series' have built in jumping in points, but I didn't enjoy this book one bit. Still Fraction and Dodson have tons of fans who will love this book; for me, I shall wait for the trade. Read Full Review
