I HATE FAIRYLAND and Deadpool writer SKOTTIE YOUNG and artist AARON CONLEY (Sabertooth Swordsman, Rocket Raccoon & Groot) team up for a hilarious all-new, all-ages ONGOING SERIES!
Rufus, the biggest bully in Rottenville since kindergarten, suddenly goes from bully to bullied on the first day of high school. He's forced to make a shaky pact with his favorite geeks: Spencer and his twin sibling besties, Edith and Ernie. Together they'll have to find a way to survive the Hunger Games-like contest known simply as the BULLY WARS-where the winner will rule the school!
Bully Wars have started very strong and I hope that it can continue with this momentum because I am in love with this series already. I didn’t realize how much I missed gross and obnoxious illustrated media until I opened up this first issue. It's simple and hilarious while also being remarkable and extraordinary and I cannot wait to get the next issue. Read Full Review
Bully Wars #1 is the perfect antidote to your end of summer blues! Skottie Young's script is familiar, but fresh, with those classic high school elements. While Aaron Conley's art crafts the mildly dank and moldy mood of Rottenville High. I'm looking forward to what's in store for these misfit cast of characters. Read Full Review
In many ways it feels an awful lot like a Cartoon Network show circa 2000 and if that's not enough reason to read it then I don't know what is. Read Full Review
Bully Wars #1 is an enjoyable debut and should be fun for all ages. It isn't a home run, but it feels like we have not yet seen the best that Young and Conley have to offer. I look forward to seeing Rufus rise above his peers. Read Full Review
Bully Wars #1 is a vibrant all ages comic with a lot of promise and potentially even an important lesson about labels. This comic does more than enough with its first issue to pique my interest in where its headed. Read Full Review
It should be appealing entertainment for students seeking escapist fun, one that brings smiles along with an affinity to their own weekly travails. It may also be a balm for parents struggling with new school year registrations and schedules. For any reader, it's a witty display of character perspectives that plays to timeless roles from shared academic experiences. And that allows for a few lessons to be couched in the laughter. "Bully Wars" is a lot of fun, and worth checking out for younger audiences. Read Full Review
I picked up this comic as a little challenge to myself, because it's not a comic I would've naturally picked up off the shelf. And I'm not sure I'm sticking with this title for the long run. I do recommend this for a slightly younger audience. I know that as a teen I would've loved the gross, madcap artwork in this issue, and the storyline is funny and light. As a comic it is very good at what it does. Read Full Review
It's like they made a 90's cartoon network show in comic form. Loved it.
The setup is funny and holds promise for some good laughs. Conley's style is extremely close to Young's though not quite as kinetic.
For nostalgic purposes this book reminds me of the old school cartoon recess but I don’t think this book missed on a lot of levels
