THE GOOD:

-Yet another amazing issue.

-This art is so good.

-Wow, I didn't expect it, but Norton and Doc Sutton's scenes together were really great and genuine. I guess it would make sense that those two characters would connect.

-The story is really ramping up. I am so engaged and I cannot wait for what's to come.

This is the best in-continuity story I've read all year. Got a bit emotional at the end. Looking very much forward to Surfer's new status quo. If you've read my reviews on Spider-Man: Life Story, then I hold this Surfer story very close to that regard.

Donny Cates, Tradd Moore, and Dave Stewart has crafted a love letter to the Silver Surfer. One that Stan Lee would very much admire. The more

Is this comic even necessary, to be honest? How many times can the same story be re-told? I'm fine with modernizations and minor tweaks to make origin stories more actual and relevant, but if I got to be honest, I'd rather read Earth 1 alternate retelling, taking creative risks, than deal with something that's neither old nor new, contantly being held by canon's restrictions.

Wasn't there a suggestion that Clark was subconsciously manipulating the Kents into accepting him? Which has its own problems, of course.

With a title like Superman Year One from DC’s Black Label I expected, with high hopes, for this comic to be independent and unalike compared to past origin stories. However, this issue proves to be a retelling of way too familiar tropes for the Man of Steel. We see Clark go to school as a child and go through the same routine of being classified as different and struggling to hold back his power more
