Is this comic even necessary, to be honest? How many times can the same story be re-told? I'm fine with modernizations and minor tweaks to make origin stories more actual and relevant, but if I got to be honest, I'd rather read Earth 1 alternate retelling, taking creative risks, than deal with something that's neither old nor new, contantly being held by canon's restrictions.

THE GOOD:

-I actually liked this issue. It was kinda cheesy, but in a fun way at least and I enjoyed it more than a lot of the bland and boring stuff DC is putting out right now.

-The art had it's weak spots, but overall, I enjoyed it for what it is, which is competent, nothing outstanding.

-Frank Miller is good at narration, and that definitely shows in this iss more

Wasn't there a suggestion that Clark was subconsciously manipulating the Kents into accepting him? Which has its own problems, of course.

ohhaimark - Jul 23, 2019

Is that so? I didn't catch that… Very true, that idea does seem to carry some issues of it's own.

With a title like Superman Year One from DC’s Black Label I expected, with high hopes, for this comic to be independent and unalike compared to past origin stories. However, this issue proves to be a retelling of way too familiar tropes for the Man of Steel. We see Clark go to school as a child and go through the same routine of being classified as different and struggling to hold back his power more

Loved the Arkham Knight saga. The first reason was the storytelling and the art was phenomenal, the second is that I love how Tomasi got Batman and Robin to work like a well-oiled machine. But, I agree with most of the other reviews saying that Arkham Knight is a terrible villain. I get that she's mad because she thinks Batman killed her mom but her dad should have told her the truth like a normal more

Don’t remind me of Harper. She was awful. Duke is ok in Batman& the Outsiders, but I don’t need his character.

myconius - Jun 12, 2019

yeah she was awful. Snyder was pushing so hard for that annoying pain in the butt to be the next Robin. but so many people hated her. ...so he then gave us Duke. that bland wooden character. what was that other lame character he made? ...Talon? that series got canned pretty early in it's run. never to be heard from again.

Well, I’m glad this arc is finally over& I hope we won’t see comic Arkham Knight in the near future. This entire story feels pointless.
First of all the plan of Astrid doesn’t make any sense. The reason, why she wanted to blind the city just feels far- fetched. There is no logic here. Even so she’s insane, but she could have come up with a better plan or rather with a plan at all.
