END OF STORY ARC
"The Devil's Devil," Conclusion
It's finally the final battle between Wizord and the next evil assassin sent to destroy him-his ex, the hyper-powered Ruby Stitch (a witch). The wizardly combat in this one... SPECTACULAR. The twist ending that flips the whole series on its head? EVEN BETTER.

While I still want to know more about Wizord's past when he was on Hole World, the final issue of the first arc set up a lot of different things going forward that should lead to more of the wacky fun I've come to expect from this book. Listen, I know Curse Words isn't reinventing the wheel here or anything. There is nothing outright groundbreaking happening in this book. But it's a fun read and a needed bit of absurd escapism. I, for one, am excited to see where this thing goes in the next arc. I think it will be nice to be able to explore this world through other characters, which seems to be where the next arc is heading. Maybe. Hopefully. I like Wizord as a character but he's kind of a one trick pony. His story keeps recycling itself. He loses his powers, he finds more magic to absorb, he wins the fight. Overall as a first volume, Soule and Ryan Browne has something potentially special on their hands. I do worry we will end up with an episodic narrative where we just get this continuous array of different evil wizards for Wizord to do battle with. Even so, it seems the key to making this work is the idea of trying to find magic in a more realistic world. Although this series may not be in the top echelon of what Image is currently producing it does have a lot of potential to be something great. Read Full Review
