Overall, though, this issue is well worth the read. The story is nicely written and the artwork is classic. The key will be to see where the next few issues take us and if they are able to capture the magic of the movies or the classical origin era.

Overall Backways is a promising new title that should definitely be read this week. There is so much introduced in this first issue that if fulfilled should be an amazing story. Batman (2016) #22

May 3, 2017

Overall, we have a mostly perfect issue. The artwork is gorgeous and the story is mind blowing. These events should have a lasting effect on the Caped Crusader and affect the DC Universe as a whole. That Thompson and King were allowed to do this was amazing and the correct play by DC and a perfect addition to the core of the Batman mythos. Its a heartfelt issue that fans will be surprised by and be talking about for the next couple of weeks until the last part of The Button comes out.

Batman (2016) #37

Dec 20, 2017

This issue is a fun throwback to the roots of where are heroes came from. In our youth they were fun loving adventure stories that made us laugh and dream. As we have grown, they have matured with us, sometimes leaving behind what we once loved about them. The creators of this issue obviously had fun creating this story and injects that enjoyment into the pages. Its a great reminder to take a step back from the sagas and legends that we revere and just have fun with them again.

This is another great issue of Batman that is worth owning and reading over and over. Its a treat to see Joelle Jones draw Wonder Woman and enjoy Tom Kings story with it is a perfect pairing. DC should start a new title that just has the Super Friends in one off light stories like the ones we have been treated with in recent Batman issues.

Black Hammer #8

Apr 20, 2017

Lemire has stated that the series will only be about 18 to 20 issues, so we are already almost half way through. The uniqueness of this story, though, will certainly make readers wish there was no end in sight. He has done so much excellent character building by both past and current events in their lives that we have a strong connection to our heroes. If they are going to survive in the town much longer they are going to have to let go of whats holding them back. Otherwise they arent going to see the dangers around them until its too late. Absolutely grab this issue if you have been following along and if you havent then this would work as a jumping on point.

Britannia: We Who Are About to Die #1

Apr 26, 2017

The reader will enjoy this combination of horror, gladiator, and detective story all rolled into one. It aptly conveys Rome at it's most sickening and the reader may discover parallels with our own society. If you are a fan of ancient Rome and it's mythology or love the beauty of it's architecture then you may enjoy this book if gore doesn't scare you away. It's a good balance, though, and more than worth sticking it through. There is great potential for a deeper story and message here in future issues.

Zomben #1

Apr 28, 2017

Overall Zomben is a joy to read. The artwork captures the youthfulness of the characters while Heneghans writing nicely contrasts tragic circumstances with the lightheartedness of being in grade school. Being new in a strange place is a horror story that everyone can relate to and its dealt with perfectly here. If you love Zombie stories but are tired of the same old brain eating storyline then you will definitely enjoy this book.
