Overall East of West: The World is a great issue within the series, giving insight into how detailed both Dragotta and Hickman made this apocalyptic America. It's light on traditional drawn story-content but more than makes up for it with the stylistic fact files and the teasers yet to come in the series. Now we await issue 16, and the coming Apocalypse cannot come soon enough. Read Full Review

While it is unnecessary and slightly gimmicky, it's definitely a fun issue. I could see something like this, a standalone issue that just includes extra information for die-hards, being double the price of a regular issue. Instead, this fun one-shot includes a short story as well as analysis and timeline for the price of a regular issue. Normally I'm not a fan of these sorts of things, but I would definitely suggest it, especially given that it's been months since the last issue and the complexity of the storyline may require you to refresh yourself. This issue mostly serves as an anticipation builder for The Apocalypse: Year Two, the next chapter of the series. Year Two aka issue #16 will hit shelves on December 31. Read Full Review

Multiversity Comics - Sam LeBas Dec 12, 2014

This book could be considered a sort of victory lap for the team, or perhaps more accurately, a seventh day or sabbath. This is the moment the creators have taken to stand back, look at what they've made and declare that it is good. Personally, I have to echo that sentiment. Read Full Review

While the added information in East of West: The World one shot is useful for any East of West die-hard, the amount of info it contains was disappointing to this fan of the series. Read Full Review

    IGN - Jesse Schedeen Dec 11, 2014

By and large, this issue is a sourcebook for the sprawling world of East of West, breaking down the various nation states and the timeline of events that have shaped the series. It's a handy resource consdieirng how dense the series can be and how many different characetrs and factions there are. But this is the sort of material that's better suited as supplemental pages in a trade paperback collection rather than a standalone product. Read Full Review

East of West: The World isn't exactly essential, even though there is some new information presented within its pages. It is however, very helpful at gearing readers for the next year of East of West. Current fans will enjoy getting a more in-depth look at this America. Those who may have been holding out on reading East of West might consider checking this one-shot out to get a grasp on what they are in for. Read Full Review
