"DIE OFF ANOTHER DAY," Part Two
Danger awaits the Hoax Hunters at the mysterious carnival - a roaming band of cryptids with an agenda all their own. An old foe emerges, wielding a power the likes of which the Hoax Hunters have never seen. Not to mention an enormous, hideous monster.
Each issue seems to get better and better as the story progresses, as well as the artwork. The last page of this issue being a good example, as the creature that awaits the Hoax Hunters is beautifully drawn. The story is not the most complex, but it raises excitement and keeps the reader wanting more. So an exciting 8/10 for this issue! Read Full Review
Alex Medellin's art looks solid. Not every panel looks spectacular, but when he knocks it out of the park he reallymakes it count. The first few pages are stellar, there is a bit of a dip in quality after that, but it picks right back up once people start lighting their heads on fire. Of course, the best thing in this entire issue has got to be the last page. Medellin gets to draw a big, gross monster and it absolutely kicks ass. It's horrifying and amazing. If this series is going to give us more great moments like this, than it'll be a series worth picking up each month. Read Full Review
Axel Medellin provides creepy visuals to accompany the words, utilizing a nice cartooning style that has a fun quality to it that compliments the slightly tongue-in-cheek feel of the story. Read Full Review
I like the way Hoax Hunters is going. It has a solid team of characters and plenty of story options to explore. The writing is already better than it was in the first issue and Medellin is always great; Hoax Hunters has all the makings of a hit series. Read Full Review
Overall, an improvement over the slightly lackluster Issue #1. The story was fun, and the characters weren't that bad. With a great and unexpected last page, I await the next issue with anticipation. The writing seems to be getting better, so at this rate Hoax Hunters will turn into a grade A series. Read Full Review
All things considered "Hoax Hunters" isn't doing its premise justice on the level of story in this issue, and while this may be the result of a slower pace than is employed by most comics, the character development isn't coming to the fore in order to compensate. What's left is an issue that's neither here nor there in terms of action versus character development, that has a few art-related problems besides. If the third instalment doesn't step things up in a major way you may want to put this series on notice. Read Full Review
Would I recommend this book? No. It's sad to say, but this book isn't worth your time or money. Read Full Review
