I Hate This Place #9 frames the upcoming series' finale with some revelations that begin to make sense of the horrific ensemble of nightmares that occupy a lone ranch. It's a satisfying lore-drop, too, as it provides just enough information to begin weaving the various pieces together without ever losing track of Gabby and Trudy's narrative. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff Jun 7, 2023

Theres a point in any action story where it feels as though things have gotten so completely out of hand that theres nothing for the heroes to do but embrace the chaos and swing through to the final encounters. Starks and company take that moment and stretch it out into a full issue. Its a fun moment for the series, but it seems to get in the way of what really SHOULD be a more appealing issue of the series. Read Full Review

Never expected to love this book as much as I have.
It is one I look forward to monthly.
It tickles my queer-horror-loving-self in all the best ways.

This book has taken an absurd turn. I'm not even sure what to think of it, but it's a lot of fun. I really am interested to see if there's more twists. Just such a unique book.

The strange twist that I previously loved gets explained in this issue and I have to say, I'm not that impressed. It's ok but I believe it fails to explain a lot of what has been happening in this series. This issue feels stretched out to the breaking point and it really needs to wrap up soon as it's starting to feel stale. The fact it feels stale after introducing a huge plot point is not a good sign and makes me wonder how the book will win me back. This has been a solid and scary read so far and I believe if any book can do it it'll be this one. All in all this is the weakest issue out of a really good series.

So I just want to know what happened with this series? The first arc had me hooked and anxiously awaiting the next issue. The second arc came out and was still good now it takes a turn to be aliens and time travel and a bunch of nonsense. So his issue and the last issue has really let me down. I’m going to finish reading the series since I believe there is only one issue left so mite as well see it to the end. So if you want to read this I would stop after the first story arc and just leave it there.
