You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff
Jul 15, 2026It might've had kind of an awkward start, but the series really seems to be moving in a direction create its own fingerprint on the page. It has its own distinct presence. What starts office is kind of a silly idea. Turns into a really compelling action drama. The contrast between the sentimental idealism of Lincoln and and the snappy, scream, smart with of Speed are great fun to follow. Add to that the entry of what might be the last human and everything really starts to come together in the sharp focus for a series which is really beginning to hit it right at the end of the third issue. The more we learn about this world, the more we realize that it mirrors our own reality. This series is really deep and thought provoking, well still being easy to follow and enjoyable. This issue adds new depth to the character of Abe while also adding a new and interesting dynamic between him and the young human he discovers. Liking the vibes. But I hope they don't fall into the trap of just making this robot-man identical to a regular man. Right now he has thoughts, emotions, and the flaws of a human being - so why bother making him a robot? He might as well just be a real human himself. Why is he different, and what does he really want? We need more investment in those two big questions.
