Reading this issue makes it obvious why artist Ryan Ottley needed a break to start working ahead on this final, epic storyline. Ottley renders what might just be his most epic fight sequence yet, as Mark and his small band of allies make their stand against General Thragg and his literal army of Viltrumite offspring. Stop, there are viltrumite children there... Oh, that's how they decided to make viltrumites fight...
The epic battle continues, and Ryan Ottley shines in this issue, which is pretty to look at before being overcome by his trademark gore, where it becomes a mishmash of smashed and severed bodies. I'm more a fan of character-led issues than all-out battle ones, so I hope Kirkman allows for these moments alongside the carnage.
