I agree with your review. There was one piece of extremely cringeworthy dialogue this issue for me that I just can't get over, so I'm gonna give it an 8.
END OF STORY ARC
The final issue of the second arc! Will Maika return with her soul intact?
Overall, I must say that I enjoyed this issue. I felt like it was a compelling and though-provoking conclusion to the second story arc. Dark, intense and engaging, Maika's journey continues to develop in an interesting way, that is both intriguing and filled with surprises. I recommend grabbing a copy ASAP and enjoy the wild ride. Ambitious and epic, one of the most sophisticated and detailed stories around. Rich in lore and color in every sense. Read Full Review
The fact that this all takes place on a island of bones, a cemetery, a prison where those who visit may never leave, a perpetual birth place of death is astounding. Maika is the girl who lived. Whether you think she has her soul intact, she could care less because she, and Zinn, have survived up to this point, way further than anyone thought they would. Here's to seeing more of the trouble they get into come fall when the series returns. Read Full Review

A fittingly dark and gruesome end to this arc, the creators aren't pulling any punches. I like that we've finally discovered a more vulnerable side to Zinn, it makes him much more interesting.
Hmm... I don't know quite what to think about this one. The art is amazing and my interest continues to grow in discovering the backstory of the great old one that inhabits her... but I will admit to being a bit confused by the story at the moment. Still though I'd definitely recommend this book and I'm anxious to see where they'll be going for the third arc!
