Apr 22, 2026Odin #1 is a trippy thrill ride that delivers some great horror, and this is just issue one! There are no taboos that are out of bounds and no lines that won’t be crossed. The artwork is hauntingly beautiful and captures the essence of the story perfectly. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff
May 19, 2026The horror really reveals itself by the end of the issue. However, there's so much that hasn't been fully illuminated. It's going to be one hell of a journey for everyone involved. The story may have started firmly grounded in folk horror and contemporary drama, but it may be diving pretty far into something altogether more supernatural as the series progresses. May 20, 2026From the decision to use singing captions as a narrative device to the reoccurring motifs of prejudice and finding a sense of belonging in toxic subcultures, the writing of Odin #1 is sharp. That combined with the artwork, which includes several detailed pages and an excellent command of color, creates a cinematic narrative that actively entrances the reader in the story of a group of characters they easily dislike. May 19, 2026Odin #1 wraps myth, murder, and horror together into one package and crafts one of the most unique comic debuts this year. It's often been said that whom the gods seek to destroy, they make mad. Judging from the events in this comic, it seems like Odin himself is hell-bent on annihilation. Read Full Review

May 20, 2026Tynion IV’s been having a bang-up couple of years since leaving superheroes almost totally behind and this book with Bennett looks to be another smash. Odin #1 is contemporary horror at its finest, a book that feels perfectly crafted for this moment in history. I was engrossed with it the entire time, feeling like I’d entered into one of those subreddits the algorithm sends you to when you argue too much with the alt-right and discover a new world of horror under the one that you already knew. Nerd Initiative - Yancy Arce
May 20, 2026In another attempt to create fiction from reality, James Tynion IV brings us another tale inspired by real life. The character Adele is actively working the “Gonzo” method of journalism invented by Hunter S. Thompson. Known for infiltrating different subcultures found in the lesser-visited corners of society. To voice our journalist with a female perspective, we have the amazing Marguerite Bennett. Who seeks to explore the inner thoughts of Adele from her delicate and precarious situation. Adele’s attention to detail, social intelligence, and acute observation allowed the reader a very descriptive read on each individual in the story. Which was just a setup to make you feel comfortable before they pulled the rug from underneath. Read Full Review

May 04, 2026Odin is another entry in Tynion's growing catalog of twisted horror, and alongside Bennett and Cadonici, it shapes up to be a psychological thriller with far more secrets left to tell. It bills itself as Green Room meets Midsommar, which isn't wrong — but I'd liken it more to Almost Famous meets The Wicker Man. However you choose to frame it, Odin is a genuine page-turner. A nicely-paced first issue. Somewhat slow, but I think that works to this issue’s benefit, as we get introduced to the cast for the rest of the book, as well as having the current circumstances and situation established. Very intrigued by everything and I’m looking forward to seeing where things go. Really enjoyed how sudden the shift in tone was from the group walking around the woods to them realizing what they had done to Kevin. The ending of this was really ominous, as well. Overall, a great start, in my opinion.
