"GOLD, GUTS, AND GROG," Part Four
Holy vengeance can be a real headache, but it's so much worse when it's coming from a fifteen foot tall lady troll who's just lost her dad. In this blood-splattered issue, the Rat Queens find out that every action has some sort of hilariously brutal consequence!
RAT QUEENS ships with two covers by ROC UPCHURCH, which may be ordered separately.
Rat Queens #4 is a perfect comic. It has everything a fan could want. It takes a lot for a book to get a 10 this comic deserves it. This issue was a perfect blend of humor and cray action. It resolves a plot line, builds up a character more, has superb artwork, and gives more of the Four Daves. If you aren't reading Rat Queens then please do yourself a favor and pick up the first four issues. You won't regret the purchase. Read Full Review
I think what I love most about Rat Queens is the books unrelenting action as well as it's sense of humor. I don't often laugh out loud when I'm reading comics, but Wiebe always has at least one line that breaks my composure. Which is what a good comic book should do. Comics are entertainment, escapism, and Rat Queens is the embodiment of both aspects. This is a book that wants you to enjoy yourself and I enjoy it more and more with each issue. Read Full Review
I feel like I talked about this book a lot last year, but after reading the last two issues I think I'll be talking about it even more this year. If you haven't checked it out just jump in, there isn't a bad place to begin and you'll enjoy it even if you don't have all the details. How else are you going to learn who Gary is and why he should shut the fuck up? Read Full Review
Like I said, I could keep going on and on about how this is one of the best titles on the shelves right now. Even if you didn't grow up on a steady diet of Dungeons & Dragons with a side of saturday morning cartoons, Rat Queens is a title you must add. This isn't just another sword and sorcery story made edgy with nasty words and flowing blood. Well, it is that, but it's also so much more. Rat Queens is packed with heart. Heart that has you rooting for these ladies no matter how nasty they get. Image puts out some of the best comics in the industry these days and Rat Queens is a jewel in that crown. Read Full Review
Rat Queens has found its stride in these first four issues and it shows no sign of slowing down. Each issue is better than the last. More action, more humor, and more great moments. If this keeps up,Rat Queensmay just prove to be one of the best series of 2014. Read Full Review
Roc Upchurch's art is big part of the appeal here. His approach to the fantasy is unique, while still hitting all the hallmarks. You've got the extreme armor, huge weapons and bloody warfare. That stuff looks great. But you also get the smaller, the moments where Betty smiles and offers to make drugs for somebody. The look on her face when she yells, "Let's. Get. Stabby!" The characters are what this comic is all about, and Upchruch imbues each of them with a personality and spirit that practically leas off the page. Except for Gary. Screw that guy. Read Full Review
Rat Queens #4 =So. Much. Win. I'm typing that with my best Captain Picard meme impression. This latest issue combined everything that I loved about the series so far and added some pretty epic battles in. Like I said before, this is exactly how I was hoping things would go. The bottom line is thatRat Queens #4 is my favorite issue yet and that's saying a lot. If you haven't jumped on the Rat Queens‘bandwagon yet, you're missing out! Read Full Review
There's only one problem with this specific issue, and that's that it consists almost entirely of a drawn out action scene. There isn't really much plot work here, and even though that large action sequence is undeniably awesome, it doesn't mask the fact that there's not much done in this issue to move the plot forward. But that's hardly an issue, because, based on Wiebe's work so far, he'll be able to pick up the story next issue. Read Full Review

Rat Queens is back to being is action-packed witty essence that it’s mostly just a fun ride as a gang of extremely hardcore ladies (who seem to be breaking many stereotypes of hardcore lady warrior types) and while it’s nice to see some character work once in a while, it’s just as good to just enjoy the ride at a good brawl with some trolls. Giving humor, action and plenty of fun stuff to follow, this is a great fantasy book. While there may be some problems with the action scenes in terms of pacing and the art, the rest of the book makes up for it in terms of entertainment, resulting in not the best issue, but a fun on nonetheless. Rat Queens #4 is a gory, action-packed adventure with an odd sense of humor and I really enjoy it. While not heavy on the characterization and backstory as the previous issue was, this one delivers the usual sense of entertainment and excitement that you come to expect from the series. Still easily recommended. Read Full Review
If youre not yet reading Rat Queens, is it because you hate fun? It must be since theres really no other reason! This is an amazing series that hits all the right notes in every issue. Rat Queens #4 was another standout installment in the saga of these foul-mouthed, hard drinking, orc killing, and apparently drug-making ladies. Read Full Review
Once again, I really enjoyed this month's issue of Rat Queens thanks to the mix of gruesome fun and biting humor. The certainty of my reading the next issue is most definitely a sure thing. Read Full Review
"Rat Queens" #4 makes this book four-for-four, now. It's rare that you find a book that not only is smart and funny, but can also handle a main cast of all female characters that doesn't make a big deal about that fact. It's handled matter-of-factly, with all that really matters is that it's got a strong mix of humor and drama. Check it out. Read Full Review
If you're looking for a comic book that displays amazing fight sequences, the fourth issue of Rat Queens is the one for you. The story takes off from Betty's confrontation with the person who has put a price on the Rat Queens's head and then quickly shifts to an attack by an army of trolls lead by the dead troll's girlfriend. As usual, humor is omnipresent in this installment, even at the end, during the introduction of new characters.
Roc Upchurch shines in his drawings, the physical movements and gestures are spot on. There's no exaggeration in his action sequences, every motion is beautifully detailed. The trajectory of the stone about to hit the town is presented on page 6 in three panels as to show the momentum it gains more
