Sure, a lot of the setup and storyline are silly and even stilted, but if you lean into it, it’s a lot of fun. Add to that some great car imagery, and you can practically feel the wind whipping through your hair as you turn the pages. Read Full Review

    Comic Crusaders - Al Mega

THE LAST DRIVER #1 is a strong, stylish, creator-owned debut with a real engine under the hood. It is built for fans of cyberpunk grit, car-culture chaos, outlaw heroes, broken futures, and stories where the chase is not just about getting away, but about getting back something humanity let slip through its fingers. Murphy and Gough deliver a first issue with speed, attitude, heart, and enough road-rage rebellion to make this ongoing series feel like it has a long, dangerous highway ahead. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff

It's kind of weird. But not weird enough to be appealing by virtue of its weirdness. The heavy fusion between dystopian science fiction and politics feels kind of strange given the fact that The Last Driver is as in love with the automobile as it is. The whole thing just feel very strange. The overall energy that Murphy is working with, feels strange enough that it could rather quickly move into some pretty bizarre directions that could actually be very appealing. It's kind of difficult to tell how that's going to play out, however, by the end of the first issue. Read Full Review

    Comic Watch - Henry Davis

    Aug 20, 2026

The Last Driver #1 is Sean Gordon Murphy doing what he does best as a visual storyteller, delivering page after page of dynamic thrills and engaging world building. However, the points in which the script stumbles are some of its most important, leaving this debut issue feeling shallow in its execution. Read Full Review

Cool debut. Sean Murphy's art is amazing as usually, and he's not to shabby with his writing skills. The world seems interesting and pretty fleshed out. All in all a good debut issue.
