The Walking Dead has officially introduced the most interesting story in years as a new community might force the core group to make difficult decisions. Read Full Review
THE WALKING DEAD #177 reunites Michonne and her daughter, Elodie. This is an emotional issue by Robert Kirkman that has other key plot points interworked in the story. The artwork from Charlie Adlard and Stefano Gaudiano is as solid as ever. Read Full Review
"NEW WORLD ORDER," Part Three is a great introduction to new characters. Now let's see how long they stay alive. Read Full Review
This new arc has been a slow but solid build introducing us to this new world and letting the malice (or expected malice) build. Is it in our minds considering the series history? Or, is there something up with these new characters and community that spells trouble for our heroes. Is it all too good to be true and this is the quiet before the storm? Kirkman and team know how to build to a cathartic explosion and this latest arc feels like it's building to something, I just don't know what. Read Full Review
The Walking Dead #177 is more flawed than previous chapters of "New World Order." The jumbled narrative and overly wordy dialogue see to that. Even so, this issue has no trouble holding the reader's attention as it explores Michonne's unexpected family reunion and introduces some pivotal new characters into the mix. Read Full Review
Great new characters
Having fallen off the show last year, it's quite something that this book has me still interested, and in issues like this, captivated, 177 issues in. This is a good one. I find the new "threat" interesting, as Kirkman peels the layers to let us slowly see what this society is about. Michonne's reunion with her daughter is touching, as is the bit with that kid and Rick and the poetry. I would have rated this a 9.0 but I didn't recognize who that one dude is in the final scene--I don't know if it's one of the many bearded characters that I'm supposed to know, or just a guy, or whatever, but it was a small hiccup at the end of the issue for me.
Steady and reliable.
