I took another long break between last issue and this one. Work, holidays and other engagements kept me from reading this series for too long. I want to shorten my reviews until I catch up. These really do take a while to type out, so if I cut out these, I can catch up faster.
I'll be very brief. The whole thing with Betty is interesting but also very contrived. Doc Ock is still a fun villain. Blackie isn't, so much. The pacing here was lightning fast, and I think that was due to this being a technical two-parter. I wish JJJ was in the issue, as he's always a treat.
Quote of the issue: "I Agreed to Pick Up Blackie Gaxton... Not to Take Two Battling Furies Aboard!"
After Betty picks up Doc Ock when he is released from prison, Spidey follows them to Philadelphia. Doc Ock breaks mob boss Blackie Gaxton out of prison, & the two go to Blackie's ship for Doc Ock's fee. Being held on the ship are Betty & Bennett Brant, who is Blackie's lawyer & is in his debt. Spidey shows up to rescue the Brants & chaos ensues when he battles Doc Ock & the mobsters. (Cover date: April, 1964)
