The Biggest Movie Stars Of The Summer Team Up As The Amazing Spider-Man And The Avengers Square Off Against Doc Ock And The Sinister Six! The World May Be Ready To Buckle Under And Give In To Doctor Octopus’ Demands But Spider-Man And His Fellow Avengers Sure Ain’t!
Ends of the Earth is gearing up to be as good as Spider-Island, of course with Slott still at the helm, I didn't expect anything less. This issue gave us a great fight, some good character moments for both main and side characters (the JJJ vs Horizon Labs side bit is making me hate JJJ all over again) and a lead in that has me eager for the next ish. All in all, I don't believe I could be happier with the book and I have to give it a 5 for 5. Read Full Review
Building companies like Tesla for building emissions-free cars, or SpaceX for building rocketships (actual rocketships!), or Solar City for engineering human activity free from pollution and fossil-dependence, Elon Musk has involved me deeply in his quest for tomorrow, just as he has you. And in no longer simply responding to danger, Spidey has finally, flawlessly transitioned from being a teenage hero into being ready for an entirely new kind of tomorrow. Read Full Review
Part two of this story was fantastic! Everything about it was awesome. It's a great transition from the last issue and will have you on the edge of your seat from page one as the good guys and bad guys one-up each other over and over. Read Full Review
"This is our day, gentlemen. The day the Sinister Six reigns supreme." Something about that declaration is inspiring. Dr. Octavius referring to his compatriots - including a guy made out of sand, a guy wearing a fishbowl on his head and a guy in a rhinocerous outfit - as 'gentlemen' lends a quiet dignity to their collective madness, and the only way Amazing Spider-Man #683 could make me happier would be letting Mysterio kick a little more ass. Oh yeah, The Avengers vs. Sinister Six is pretty cool too! Read Full Review
This battle royale in a remote cave does feel a little similar to Slott's earlier crossover with the Fantastic Four, where the team also fought a horde of villains (including replicas of the Sinister Six). But with easy accessibility, a satisfying sense of pacing and some gorgeous art, Amazing Spider-Man places a high bar that its contemporaries would do well to emulate. Read Full Review
Although there are other Spider-Man choices on the rack and the costume still doesn't quite wow me, The Amazing Spider-Man #683 is genuinely enjoyable and a lot of fun for new readers and fans of the Webhead. Where Slott, Caselli and Martin are taking the story not only keeps the reader holding on for more but is just good old-fashioned Marvel Comics. Read Full Review
As a long time Spider-Man reader, I’ve always loved The Sinister Six, but they’re not the same Spidey punching bags they once were. With a dying Doctor Octopus who’s got nothing to lose as their leader, they’re more organized, patient, bad-ass & deadlier than ever. Like Mysterio tells Chameleon “This is The Sinister Six. You’re in the majors now. Act like it!” I like Spidey’s new armour, except the helmet looks a little too close to The New Warrior’s Night Thrasher. Another very entertaining issue. From Marvel Comics. Read Full Review
When I first jumped onto ASM after a decades-long hiatus, Dan Slott was in a bit of a funk, but I have been enjoying nearly every issue starting with Spider-Island. You can't go wrong picking up this issue and following this story arc. Read Full Review
This was a pretty solid issue... However, there was one thing that bugged me... If you guess it was the Avengers losing, AGAIN, you win the no-prize! Seriously, what is it with Spidey's enemies beating up on the Avengers?! First Osborn, now this! Besides the constant Avengers bashing, I did enjoy this comic, and am still extremely interested to see where Ock is going with this plan of his... Read Full Review
I've been a huge proponent of Slott's work on this book thus far, and have no doubt it'll bounce back from this somewhat disappointing installment. Read Full Review
There are nice moments in this issue. Al Gore getting punched in the face was sweet. But, those nice moments aren't enough to overcome the problems presented by a very stale set of villains. Can't Spidey fight against someone new instead of fighting these guys for the upteenth time? We know how this turns out so there is no drama. Read Full Review
