Amazing X-Men Annual #1 is the Storm focused story that fans deserved. Not the greatest, but it captured everything you like about Storm and the progress she's made up to this very point. Storm's triumph isn't just a testament to her power and grace. It reveals the scale and scope of her humility. Even though she was worshipped as a goddess, she still maintains close ties to her family and loved ones. Those loved ones might not be well-developed. Nobody is going to confuse her cousin with the Kents and nobody is going to confuse Meruda with Lex Luthor, but the story conveyed in Amazing X-men Annual #1 provides a conflict and a struggle for Storm that contains a very personal touch. It might not have the kind of breadth that is going to fundamentally change Storm's character, but it will reinforce the humility that makes her a goddess worth worshipping. Read Full Review

There's nothing blatantly bad about Amazing X-Men's inaugural annual. That said, there's nothing particularly stunning about it, either. In fact, aside from a hysterically-written and composed news headline, it's a pretty run-of-the-mill story. Read Full Review
Overall Amazing X-Men Annual #1 is a great read but the $4.99 price tag makes it hard to strongly recommend this issue and unless you're an avid fan of either the X-Men or Storm you should leave it on the shelf. Read Full Review
Bennett and Doe's mini-story, and Larroca's art in the main, are enough to give "Amazing X-Men Annual" #1 a barely-passing grade. It's by no means essential reading for anyone following this title, or even the X-Men in general, but anyone with five bucks to burn and a half hour to kill could find enough here to entertain.
