Everything thread from the previous issues is starting to come together as ‘Black Panther' begins the countdown to its very near final issue, putting the former King of Wakanda into a tight spot with former allies & former enemies. An action-packed yet powerfully emotional issue rife with great character beats and some very slick artwork that moves around the page easily. Read Full Review
Peralta delivers great art in the issue. There are some visually engaging dramatic scenes in the issue, but even great art can't save a bad story. Read Full Review
T'Challa is driven to fix the massive problems he caused, but the Avengers just won't let him be great. Read Full Review
Yeah, I liked how Captain America was written here even less than the last two issues. I think I can see what Ridley is trying to do, but I just don't think it works with Steve's character, personally. It's a shame, as I started out really enjoying this series. This is a solid book and story overall, but Ridley just leaves a bit to be desired.
Same problems as the previous issue.
Whoops, the story's gonna take another lap before getting to the climax. And *what* a lap it is.
It's drawn very well. And the prose is decent (with important exceptions).
But the plotting choices are dreadful. Splitting the plot into 3 threads is ambitious, but leaving 2 of them hanging spoils the effect.
And the thread that is developed! T'Challa gets clobbered (*again*) by a tone-deaf rendition of Captain America.
And the surprise ally in the final scene? Unless I missed a *big* rapprochement in prior comics, that makes no sense at all.
Really sad of what this series has become. Biggest disappointment by far over the last two years in terms of superhero comics.
What happened with the good writing and well well crafted storytelling in the first 5 issues?
Horrible, horrible HORRIBLE!
I wish I could give a zero. I'm DONE with this run!!! NOW CAP TALKS CRAP AND THEN WHOOPS T'CHALLA'S ASS??! THATS HOW FAR WERE GOING WITH THIS???
