A fallen king, a thief with a past, and a compromised cyborg are just a few of the colorful personalities that make ‘Black Panther' #4 such a rich entry in this new series. Everything about this book feels so deep and real and gives new life to Wakanda in a much needed way. A superhero story with a heart and soul that it proudly wears for all to see. Read Full Review
It gets a little denser than previous issues, but it's still leagues ahead of other current superhero sagas. Read Full Review
One wedding and a rather fun time. Read Full Review
Black Panther #4 delivers some cool Black Panther vs. Deathlok action and stunning art throughout, but the plot barely moves an inch on a mystery that isn't well-developed or interesting. Read Full Review
This was my favorite issue of the series so far. While I would have enjoyed the fight with Deathlok going a bit longer, I enjoyed what we got. I really liked the building of the relationship/alliance between T'Challa and Natima. This kind of relationship is not something new in comics, but I do think this instance was well-written, which is all that matters to me. I really like the direction this book is going and I hope it continues to get better and better.
It's true that the pace is a little slow here. And many of the scenes--not just the Big Fight, but some of the important conversations--trail off without satisfying conclusions.
But on the plus side, world-building and character/relationship development continue all the way through. The artistic collaboration works better here, with both artists delivering highly satisfying segments.
And a little error I made with #3 comes back to teach me a lesson. I noted that Beisa's precious bracelet changed designs; I assumed this was poor communication between the artists. But this issue makes it clear that those are two different bracelets.
That tells me that the creators have long-term plans for everything they do. S more
