The unbeatable Taskmaster is back! And what's worse for Cap is that he's learned Steve Rogers' greatest secret!
Rated T+
Admittedly this series is a complicated one, but that's why it's so fun. This is what good spy dramas should look like. Captain America: Steve Rogers is dripping with intrigue due to the incredible character work and circumstances. Read Full Review
This series always takes a noticeable plunge in visual quality whenever Jesus Saiz is absent, and that's very much the case here. Javier Pina continues his valiant effort to echo Saiz's approach, but his work lacks the smooth, refined quality that makes Saiz's work such a joy to view Read Full Review
It had to happen eventually, didn't it? Captain America: Steve Rogers #12 is agonizingly meh. Read Full Review
Another steller issue as the plot thickens. Elisa Sinclair as Madame Hydra.. Zemo is like WTF? and Taskmaster and Black Ant go from extorting Maria Hill to getting nab for before they recieve a dime!!! Secret Empire can't get here soon enough!!!
Surprising enemies rear up. How hard is Evil Cap going to have to fight for Hydra before he gets to take over the world? Nick Spencer tosses out a few fresh leads for the unending debate over exactly what Kobik has changed: just Cap's brain or the whole world? This issue's evidence is leaning heavily toward the latter. The art isn't bad, but it's definitely an inferior stand-in for Jesús Saiz's work. It's a necessary evil with this title's breakneck shipping schedule.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: STEVE ROGERS #12, one of Spencer's weaker issues, was, still, an excellent installment of my favorite Cap run since Waid/Garney. Plus, it had Taskmaster! Am I his only fan? All the experimental garbage that Marvel has been churning out, recently, and we can't get a Taskmaster solo? Just look at that cover.
SCORE: 8
This series has, after it's shocking intro, been all about the slow build, and that doesn't change here. That said, I found it interesting, and while this book isn't the same without Jesus Saiz, Javier Pina fills in admirably.
