LOWLIFE PART 1 Kingpin is out, The Owl is in. Daredevil must take this new criminal empire down!
I have to say that I'm quite fond of Marvel's 25 cent program, and as an entry level issue this month's issue of Daredevil acts as a wonderful sample of what one can expect from this book on a monthly basis. Brian Michael Bendis offers up a wonderful exchange in this issue between Matt & a villain who has never quite managed to be anything but laughable, where the idea that Matt's secret identity has been compromised makes a noticeable impact on how these two interact. The issue also offers up a surprisingly effective display of violence, that acts to show us that not every villain is going to hold back when it comes to attacking Matt before it's proven that he actually is Daredevil. Also while I might be giving the final page of this issue a little too much weight, it does look like a new woman is set to enter Matt's life, and based upon how he's handled relationships in his other titles I'm glad to see one showing up in this title. Oh, and how much did this miss a letters page to talk about Daredevil, hype up the trades and the next issue, and allow Bendis to spout forth on all things DD? Essential for new readers, I would've thought, and a massive missed opportunity for Marvel. Read Full Review
Some faces made by Maleev were absolutely hilarious, which isn't the way the story needed it... However, the story itself was quite cool, I really enjoy this.
