It's a shame that DR: Fantastic Four is Hickman's unofficial first F4 book, because it's underwhelming. I suppose there's a fair chance he's saving all the big, Internet-breaking ideas for the next issue and these are just the warm-up act, but regardless, I wasn't too impressed with this one. While I did enjoy this, there's that pesky $3.99 price tag and the fact this is almost entirely setup for the remainder of the series with few reasons for nonFantastic Four fans to really jump in. Read Full Review
Given this single issue, it's hard to judge whether the series will be worth reading. Hickman does set up a story that could well be very good, but the fact that he doesn't do much more than that here is kind of a mark against him. And the artwork doesn't help, either. So, this first issue only gets a mild recommendation, but keep an eye out for the rest of the series. It could be a keeper. Read Full Review

No idea why the critics disliked this book so much. It wasn’t a “10”, but it was interesting set-up. I suppose the lack of action scenes hurt the perception.
