So far Edge of Spider-Verse #4 is perfect way to start the month of October in reading scary stories. Not everyone will enjoy this as horror is not for everyone or for how different it may be in contrast, but if you enjoyed Edge of Spider-Verse so far and want to see how this connects to Spider-Verse then I highly suggest you go and buy Edge of Spider-Verse #4. This doesnt add much to the mythos nor build of SPIDER-VERSE, but thats not really what its here for. Its here to be a single serving of another take on the Spidey we all know and love (and in this case: are glad we dont know and probably kinda hate). I especially got a little fanboy glee when the climax of the issue was revealed and just flat-out loved the horror comic aesthetic of the rest of the issue. Whether or not youre interested in the overall event, this is worth checking out if you want a solid one-shot horror comic. Read Full Review

Having read the complete series #4 has been the one to exceed my expectations. The sense of the comic was such a departure from the Parker will all know that my sensibilities wanted to reject the book outright. This is exactly what I loved about the book. Chapman's conduct disorder evolving to an anti-social Patton is written perfectly. He accomplishes a terrific and complete story that will leave you feeling eerie, wrong, and shocked. Garry Brown does an amazing with the cover and I hope we get to see more from him. Elia's work is a departure from the cover but is beautiful executed and belays the tone of the book fully. My advice is to not read this once but twice to rally let these characters sink in.

This was a great addition to the Spider-Verse. I actually squirmed while reading this book. This is true horror; edge of your seat, macabre, grotesque horror. The art is beautiful and once the Spider-thing starts to show its true form in this issue, I promise you will be delighted and disturbed. If I had one nitpick, and this is being extremely picky, I can't say I enjoyed the main character before the transformation. I understand that this social outcast and introvert lends well the the revenge style plot, but the way he talks just annoyed me. Once the bite happens, however, it becomes a terrifying tale that sticks with you well after you finish this book. A different story than you'd expect. However, don't expect this 'Afterlife with Archie'-esque art that you see on the cover.
Oh well... Another one-issue spider-man... So, they only started with popular Noir Spider-Man and then made stories about new spiders. At least Spider-Gwen got her own series...
What about this issue... That's just some mockery... I can't say it was bad. Nah, it reads nicely. It's just... weird. Too weird. In many ways.
