The chief problem with Gwenpool #1 is that the core concept has been done to death. Spider-Man fans have already seen Gwen Stacy come back as a variant and a clone. Given that, there is no sense of suspense as to how she came back here, nor any reason to believe it is the classic Gwen. While the execution is not bad, there seems little reason for this comic to exist beyond simple shock value. That's not enough when it isn't all that shocking. Read Full Review

Gwenpool Issue 1 has a ridiculous ripple effect. The plot is fun, the art is exceptional, and the team-up elements are enjoyable. But as both a positive and a negative, the whole story and discourse focus on that other Gwenpool. Read Full Review

Gwenpool #1 is a Gwenpool comic made exclusively for the hardest of diehard Gwenpool fans. Cavan Scott's paper-thin plot takes a backseat to constant cultural references and 4th Wall-breaking hijinks to give Gwenpool fans everything they could want.
