The Life of Wolverine is literally the life of Wolverine perfectly summed up in one comic. Throughout the book, the art does a fantastic job honoring these classic stories, while staying consistent and making it all seem like one fluid story at the same time. The publisher recently attempted something similar with 2019s History Of The Marvel Universe, and while that series also suffered from a similar sense of book report-itis, Javier Rodriguezs art elevated it into something novel and visually gorgeous. Ramn F. Bachs art here, while not bad at all, is forced to pack in so many narrative beats and recreate classic moments from Wolverines lore that none of it gets to breathe or linger on the page. I can see this one-shot becoming something of a staple in New to Wolverine? reading lists once it drops on Marvel Unlimited, but as a standalone comic book priced at $4.99, you could pick up something more substantive than Life of Wolverine #1. Life of Wolverine #1 adapts the vertically scrolling "Infinity Comic" by writer Jim Zub and artist Roman Bachs into print with passable results. Knowing that Life of Wolverine existed first as a webtoon-style comic, it's hard not to look for the seams where the phone-sized pieces were sewn together. Read Full Review
If you’re just getting into comics or know someone who is interested in comics, this is a great starting place for future fans of Wolverine. I’m no wolverine expert, but I didn’t learn too much from this book, a lot of rehashing what we already knew. Again, if you’re unfamiliar it’s great. Otherwise it’s just a jog down memory lane.
