Illyana remains a strikingly compelling main focus of a series in a storyline the gets right into the heart of who she is. Her personal story fits remarkably well into the larger story of the villain shes trying to defeat and the peril that the entire human race seems to be in. Its a sharply-structured story that Allen is bringing to the page with the aid of some very appealing visuals. Read Full Review
Ariana Maher working her magic on the letters did a spectacular job making each word feel like a shiver up your spine, especially when it came from Liminal. Read Full Review
Magik #3 finds the pain of Illyana's past remixed for the present with no time-travel required. Our mysterious Liminal becomes a more filled out character, and the tension rises as he forces our heroine into a devil's bargain. As we just saw with Storm and Eegun, such a deal may end up disappointing all parties involved. Only time will tell if this leads to the Darkchilde's return once and for all. Read Full Review
This was a nice improvement over issue 2. Liminal is a great foil for Illyana. I really liked the scene where he turned into Belasco and how it affected her PTSD and the callbacks to her imprisonment in Limbo.
Issue 3 is also very different from the first two issues. Instead of finding a demon with a quirky power who is killing mutants and figuring out how to beat the enemy of the week, this is battle of wits against the big bad of the arc with minimal, but effective, action. The handling of Illyana's character continues to be stellar.
The art is a bit of a mixed bag this time. Illyana continues to look great and Liminal is well drawn, but the environment they interact in is fairly drab.

Though I think this issue is far better than the last, the story is still muddy. The conflict between Magik and the demon is good, but confusing. I'm still not sure what he's after. The deal he makes with her doesn't make much sense, but I love that they are bring Dani into it.
