NEW AVENGERS DISSASEMBLED PART 3 Straddling the world's of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra as a double agent for Nick Fury isn't going to fly in the middle of a war, and Jessica is going to find this out the hard way!
Of course, Bendis three successful Civil War tie-ins so far have only dealt with anti-registration heroes, and Ill be interested to see whether he can replicate that success without an underdog character to garner readers sympathies. S.H.I.E.L.D. continues to be painted as the bad guy here (with Iron Man the constant, faceless and amoral enforcer), and I cant help but feel that its going to be difficult to get readers on-side when Bendis has to concentrate on one of the pro-reg heroes. Next issue should provide the writers take on the psychologically complex Sentry, and I think that thatll be a true test of his abilities. For the moment though, Bendis is providing one of the few must-read Civil War tie-ins on the shelves, and if he continues to be paired with artists of the calibre of Coipel (or indeed last issues Leinil Yu), then things really will be looking up for New Avengers. New Avengers #23 was yet another uninteresting and wasted issue for me. If you love Spider-Woman than you will very much enjoy this issue. If you enjoy one-sided and very predictable stories then you will also enjoy this issue. If you like seeing large Iron Packages then you will most definitely enjoy this issue. Civil War couldn't end soon enough for me. I can't wait to get some good old fashioned Avengers goodness in my Avengers comic. Read Full Review
