NEW MUTANTS: DEAD SOULS #4 does a fantastic job writing the wrongs of previous issues. Despite some unclear characterization and plot elements, this is one of the best issues in the series thus far. Read Full Review
Even if superhero comic books can never truly end, this issue is exemplary of how they’re still capable of showing how far some characters have come and how they’re affected by those who didn’t make it that far. It’s an issue much like Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s “The Body”, so calibrated on every wavelength to understanding the harshness of what leads to grief, how differently it can manifest in everyone. That’s a weighty goal, some media properties can dedicate their entire existence to exploring it, but Rosenberg, Gorham, Garland, and Clayton Cowles –– whose work here shifts the space between balloons into uncomfortable silence - offer a succinct summation on the nature of it. This story balances on the knife-edge between humor and anxiety. It's a series full of guts, horror, and a lot of heart. Plus a few drunk Russians. Read Full Review
Rosenberg has really honed in on these characters' voices and Gorham shows a some versatility in his artwork. This series just keeps getting better. Read Full Review
New Mutants: Dead Souls #4 is another great entry into what is shaping up to be a fantastic six-issue mini-series. Rosenberg throws the reader for a loop in this issue and well, let's just say it is a crazy issue of New Mutants. The art continues to be good with some great character work and superb coloring. Again, I am digging this supernatural mutant fighting team and each issue has been a lot of fun. Read Full Review
The story continues to be compelling and there was some great dialogue in this issue, but the third act didn't resonate with me and felt like a bad sci-fi series plot device. Read Full Review
What a great line of xmen and stroy! Keeping you on your feet with the funeral! Love this! Keep up the good work
Magik faces the consequences of failure after she gets Riktor killed in a plane crash. Putting her through pull-no-punches emotional torment and crafting a noteworthy third-act twist make this issue something special. I've been successfully hooked, and that gives the words and art a little extra impact.
Emotional and heartfelt... but only if your a Magick fan.
