Despite a lack of clarity at certain points, NEW MUTANTS: DEAD SOULS #5 continues the fantastic tradition of the previous issue in the series. The work on characterization in this issue feels satisfying, and the resolution of certain character arcs gave me great hope for the future of this series. Read Full Review
This was my favorite issue so far of this mini-series, and with only one more issue to go, it has me excited to see how it ends. Matthew Rosenberg has balanced emotional storytelling with some great comedic beats. I still do not know what is going on with Warlock. Let us just say this issue ends with a bang for his storyline. I am intrigued to see if the Warlock storyline ties into this main one or not. Time is up for the New Mutants"after the shocking conclusion of New Mutants: Dead Souls #5 our team might be truly down for the count! Read Full Review
This story continues to get better with a great mystery continuing bolstered by great art. I just wish I cared more about many of the characters at this point in order to care what happens to them. Read Full Review
Why isn't this an ongoing?
This might be my favourite X-Book at the moment. I wish it was an ongoing. This issue was brilliant.
Illyana discovers why breaking into the Sanctum Sanctorum is a bad idea. Her teammates have a fascinating time while she's grappling with the main plot. The high point is undoubtedly the way the rift between Rahne and Guido is adroitly explained and moved toward healing. The layouts get audacious to illustrate the weirdness of the Sanctum, which works very well. I'm falling deeper in love with the way this series treats these characters; at its best, it triggers happy Claremont flashbacks. I, too, wish this were an ongoing.
