Sep 30, 2026Queen in Black #5 brings Marvel's symbiote event to a clean, satisfying close by making Venom's ability the key to stopping Knull. The final confrontation is relatively simple, and Knull ultimately goes down easier than his buildup might suggest, but the solution works because it embraces the collective meaning behind "we are Venom." Paco Medina and Iban Coello give the finale the scale it needs, with some disturbing Knull imagery and a fantastic final splash. The repeated emphasis on Earth's eight billion people becomes distracting, but this remains an effective conclusion that rewards readers invested in Venom's larger legacy. Read Full Review

Sep 30, 2026A fantastic conclusion to the Queen In Black story that sets up for a VERY interesting future. Al Ewing did a great job with this conclusion and it’s not one to be missed. Read Full Review

Today is the day of disappointing comics. How Ewing ends his 5 year run on Venom is certainly a way to end it. What a nothing burger. I don't really have words to describe my feelings, because while ASM #1000 I have a lot to say, this I don't. It's just: "meh". Everything about this is meh.
Is this review identical to Venom #262? Yes. But if Ewing can recycle dialogue for like 3 books, I can do it for two reviews.

This was the event where I just didn't care what happened. The way the villain defeated was unsatisfying where Mary Jane Watson guilt tirpped Knull to beat him up, and it just didn't feel like stakes. I don't need this event or story to have consequences, but at least have it entertaining. This was where Al Ewing was stretched too thin, and the characters and action were just a big old meh for me
