Red Goblin has been one of 2023's most pleasant surprises, and I'm happy to report it also nailed the landing. Read Full Review

While it isn't the most satisfying series finale,Red Goblin#10 is still a pretty strong ending to the title, one that provides an open-ended promise that this isn't the last we will see of Normie in the modern day. While niche and underserved, this series has been one of Marvel's best this year and something all superhero comics should strive to be: Engaging, exciting, and driven by human character. In terms of storytelling, it's a pretty satisfying conclusion. The script is good, and the dialogue sounds more natural than some that's come before. The art is better; I really like Chris Campana's take on Venom.

This finale is not so satisfying when it comes to plot and characterization. Normie and Rascal are distracted from their dark thoughts by an opportunity for heroism and some platitudes from Dylan. But the final scene emphasizes that they haven't really changed, or grown, or made a meaningful decision.

The darkness remains--and that leaves me wondering what the point of this whole series was.

I cannot decide if it was a 7.0 or 7.5.

This story feels unfinished. I get that they sort of left it open to let Normie melt into the world around him with him now clearly embracing the role of Red Goblin. Feels like there should have been 1 more arc worth of stories to really have him blend into the world. As it stands, I can totally see Marvel ignoring Normie for another several years and this story will just fade without purpose.

And that is my biggest fear that this will fade and mean nothing.

At the end of the day I am going with a 7.0 because the art in this issue feels really weak. It just feels like everyone had to tie up this book and be done with it. Feels like it lost momentum both in the art an more

I was really enjoying this run, but it felt as if this one wasn't meant to be the end and they told the writer at the last minute to close it up. It felt really abrupt and they saved people on a bridge from the devastation he caused. I liked some of this and didn't like other parts. It didn't wrap up since he wanted to be separated from Rascal but was told he couldn't. So what was the journey? I was very confused by the ending. It would have been better if they were separated.
