This is what SCARLET SPIDER is all about, friends. It's packed with brutal action, solid writing, terrific visuals and always manages to take a dark turn. I was really curious to see how Kaine's relationship would be handled, but in the meantime, I'm more than happy to have Yost put that on the back burner because this latest mission is pure bliss. Henchman-4-Hire - Sean Ian Mills May 27, 2013

This is one of the most fun issues of Scarlet Spider yet. Free of any other concerns, Yost dives into a free-standing crossover with the X-Men that's mostly about Kaine and Aracely being awesome. Read Full Review

I really like Scarlet Spider, with a few exceptions it's been a stellar book. And from what I've been seeing it's just going to keep getting better with issue 17 as a kind of spring board for all kinds of problems Read Full Review

Scarlet Spider #17 continues to make use of the fun relationship between Kaine and Aracely as well as the self-deprecating narration of our hero. This issue is full of action as “Red Ninja Spider-Man” takes on Beast, Ice Man, Kitty Pryde, before his fight with Logan. Best of the week. Read Full Review

Analog Addiction - Jideobi Odunze May 26, 2013

The fight with Wolverine was decent as they both have that monster mentality when they get into a fight. Kaine does seem to have won the fight in the end, but I just can't feel much for it knowing that Wolverine can't be killed that easily. So just about everything was solid in this issue besides the call on Wolverine being the target. Read Full Review

Entertainment Fuse - Sean Elks May 26, 2013

Scarlet Spider turns what had been set up as a potentially major plot point into fluff action story and an excuse to include Wolverine and the X-Men in the book. It's a truly disappointing turn of events. What makes it worse is that no substance is given to why Wolverine is Kaine's target and that Kaine's plan for getting at Wolverine is unbelievably dumb for the guy who is supposed to be good at this sort of thing.
